"The Beach Waterpark Beach Party Night at the Races"

Cincinnati Tan Bikini Contest

Ballou returns to Lawrenceburg and Victory

Lane!

Robert Ballou did not race at Lawrenceburg on

June 13.  That was also the night he lost the

point lead in the Lawrenceburg Chevrolet

Sprint Car points.  Ballou wanted to win and

get the point lead back, and that is what he

had in mind when he came to the Burg this

past Saturday.   23 sprint cars would line up

for the 25 lap feature.  Joss Moffatt and John

Memmer would start on the front row with

Memmer shooting to the lead in turn 1.  With

Memmer leading, Ballou would move to

second after getting around Moffatt for

second.  Chad Boat was also running strong

and followed Ballou around Moffatt.   For the

first several laps, it looked like Ballou was not

going to be able to catch Memmer.  As the

leaders began to catch the back of the field,

Ballou seized the moment and shot to the

inside of Memmer entering turn 3 on lap 15.

After Ballou took the lead, all eyes turned to

the battle for second between Memmer and

Boat.  Lap after lap, Boat would dive

underneath Memmer, only to have Memmer

power back around him on the outside.

Memmer would be able to hold off Boat for

second, but neither had anything for Robert

Ballou who would win for the second time in

2009, and importantly for him, vaulted him

back to the point lead.  Memmer, Boat,

Moffatt, and Andrew Elson followed Ballou

across the line.  Heat race winners were

Moffatt, Memmer, and Ballou.  The

Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to

the track on July 25.

“The Beach Waterpark Beach Party Night at the Races”

J D Largent conquers THE BURG!

JD Largent admitted in victory lane he didn’t

know if he would win at the newly configured

3/8 mile high banked oval.  Largent didn’t

have to ask that question any longer.  He

would start from the pole and dominate

leading all 20 laps in the Budweiser UMP

modified feature race.  The race wasn’t as

easy as it sounded because Derek Groomer in

the D48 chased Largent lap after lap, waiting

for Largent to make a mistake.  Groomer was

even able to pull alongside Largent a few

times, but was never able to complete the

pass.  Largent made sure his modified was

extra wide near the end of race as he was

able to hold off Groomer in the 20 lap green

to checker feature.  Groomer, Brad Weick,

Trent Green, and Tony McVey crossed the line

behind Largent.  Heat race winners were

Largent, Steve Duty, Groomer, and Tony

McVey.  Doug McGahan won the semi-

feature.  All in all, there were 29 modifieds.

The Budweiser UMP modifieds return to the

track on Saturday, July 10.

"The Beach Waterpark Beach Party Night at the Races"

Bruce almighty again at Lawrenceburg!

Mark Bruce already has one victory his year to

go along with his 4 victories last year and the

 track championship.  24 Ohio Valley

Screenprinters Purestocks all had their sights

on victory lane.  Rick Vance and Shawn

McIntosh would line up alongside each other

on the front row of the 15 lap feature.

McIntosh, the 2007 track champion jumped to

the lead on lap 1, while Mark Bruce, the

defending track champion quickly moved to

second behind McIntosh.  For the first 6 laps,

Bruce closely followed McIntosh waiting for

the right time to make his move.  As it turns

out, Bruce didn’t have to make his move.

McIntosh made it for him when he spun out in

turn 2 while leading.  This moved Bruce to the

lead and McIntosh to the back of the pack.  As

Bruce cruised his way to the victory, fans

enjoyed watching Shawn McIntosh claw his

way to the front passing car after car.  When

the white flag came out, Shawn was only 2

cars lengths behind Bruce but ran out of time

before he could mount a challenge for the

race lead.  Behind Bruce and McIntosh, Jake

Robinson, Don Grace, and Kyle Mcintosh

rounded out the top 5.  Series point leader,

Will McRoberts, crashed and finished 12.  The

OVS Purestocks return to the track on

Saturday July 18.
