LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY
LAWRENCEBURG, INDIANA
SEPTEMBER 11, 2009

“Camargo, IL (9-11-09) By Kelly Brown Public Relations Director: On a night with a cool crisp chill in the air, there was nothing cool about the action at Lawrenceburg Speedway as the Hoosier Fall Classic kicked off tonight.
In an event that saw numerous breaks in racing action and fiercely contested battles on the track, Dale Blaney was able to quickly move his way from his third place starting position to take over the lead on Lap 9. From there Blaney would take off dominating the rest of the first night of the Hoosier Fall Classic and record his third O?Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions victory this season.
When the A-Main took the Green Flag pole sitter Bill Rose got the jump going into turn one. Second place starter Rob Chaney would battle back with a slide job in turn two. In a drag race down the back stretch, Rose established himself in the top position and set sail. Chaney would battle back and take the lead momentarily, but Rose would not give up the top spot.
On Lap 5, Chaney would get high in Turn 2 allowing third place Dale Blaney to take over the second position. Once Blaney got within a whiff of the lead he started dogging Rose in a side-by-side battle that would continue even as they began to encounter lapped traffic. On Lap 7, the first Red Flag of the night would fly as the 00 of Jim Nier flipped on the front stretch. On the restart it would be Rose, Blaney, Craig Conley, Daron Clayton and Chaney rounding out the top-five.
When race action resumed Rose would get the jump on the field going into Turn 1, but Blaney was in pursuit. On the eighth revolution of the 3/8-mile, Blaney and Rose would go side-by-side for the lead. Blaney would get the edge coming off of Turn 2 in the high line and would quickly open up a sizable lead. On Lap 9, the Red Flag would fly again for Brandon Martin?s 11m sprint car which flipped in Turn 4.
Coming to the restart Blaney led with Rose, Conley, Clayton, and Chaney. On lap 11, Daron Clayton would get high in Turn 2, losing two positions. This would move Randy Hannagan into the top-five. The hottest battle on the track would be for second as Conley and Rose would drive for a few laps side-by-side before Conley would take over the second position, but before the lap could be scored another caution would come out. On Lap 13, the 51 of Aaron Higgins would come to a hault on the track bringing out the Yellow Flag.
On the restart, Hannagan was on the move quickly getting past Chaney for fourth, Conley for third, and then set his sights on second. At the halfway mark of tonight?s event the top-five consisted of: Blaney, Rose, Hannagan, Conley, and Chaney. Just as Blaney was encountering lapped traffic on Lap 16 the 4 of Danny Smith would slow on track with a flat right rear tire, bringing out a Yellow Flag.
When racing action resumed Hannagan was all over Rose as the duo staged the best battle on the track. They would go side-by-side for several laps fighting tooth and nail for the position. Greg Wilson was also on the move making his way into the top-five. On Lap 25, point leader Tim Shaffer would slow on track with a flat right rear tire, causing another caution period. This would set up a five-lap shootout, but before the field could make a lap around the 3/8-mile facility disaster would strike again. This time Rookie-of-the-Year contender David Gravel would flip coming to a stop in Turn 2.
With just five laps remaining Blaney would get the jump on the field and would never look back. He would pace the final five circuits of the track leaving Rose and Hannagan to decide who would take the runner up spot. At the line it would be Blaney, Rose, Hannagan, Conley and Wilson rounding out the top-five.
This would be Blaney's second consecutive win at Lawrenceburg Speedway as he won both the race and championship at this event last year. Overall this is Blaney's fifth win at the Hoosier track. Daron Clayton stretched out his rookie point lead with a sixth place finish in the feature.
Winner Dale Blaney "We qualified well and had a good starting spot tonight. The car was really good tonight and the track was really fast. We got under Rob and Bill early and traffic did not play much of a role even though we were really good working through it. Tonight was a good night to feel everything out for tomorrow. Last year was our first year at this big track and we were lucky enough to win that one. We will see if we can make it three in a row tomorrow night."
Second Place Bill Rose "To run this good with this caliber of car, it means a lot. I had a great battle with Randy. This place was really fast tonight making it hard to lap cars. We had a really good car tonight and are looking forward to tomorrow night? When you give Blaney any type of room, he is going to take it. He is a really clean racer, which makes it a lot of fun to battle with him."
Third Place Randy Hannagan "We worked pretty hard there. It was good effort for my team. Jack, Chris, my cousin Ernie and my wife Angie, they gave me everything that I needed to run third there. Starting from the eighth spot, it was a good effort. We just need to qualify better tomorrow night?Right now the track is wide and you can really race on it? I would like to thank the fans and everybody that supports this deal. There is not much winged sprint car racing in Indiana, so it is great to have this event here. It really has the potential to be a great event."
