Babcock Picks up second win in 2009, but unable to compete at the Dirt Track World Championship..Jeff Babcock from Wayne, Ohio has raced at Lawrenceburg a few different times this year.  It was evident that he was preparing to get his modified dialed in for the Dirt Track World Championship coming up in a couple weeks.  In victory lane, Babcock announced he would be unable to compete at the DTWC this year because of a prior commitment.  Even so, Babcock couldn’t be more impressed with The Lawrenceburg Speedway and how much he enjoys racing there.  It wasn’t the easiest night of racing for him as he had to chase down and pass Zach Fair on lap 18 to hold on and win the feature.  Zach Fair started on the outside of row 1 and looked like he was on his way to an easy win, but Babcock was using the highline on the race track and was really making it work.  Behind Babcock, Bill Wagner was following Babcock, and for a few laps, the top 3 were racing really hard for the top spot.  Finally on lap 18, Babcock sneaked around the outside of Fair and took the lead for good.  Rounding out the top 5 was Fair, Wagner, John DeMoss, and Jim Szekacs.  Heat race winners were Brad Weick, Zach Fair, and John DeMoss.

Perseverance finally pays off for Ashworth!

Sam Ashworth had a couple different feature wins slip away this year at Lawrecneburg.  Whether it was breaking while leading, or getting caught up in a accident not of his own fault, he has been one of the fastest AMSA mini-sprints all year long.  To begin the night, 32 AMSA mini-sprints were on hand to wrap up the 2009 season.  And from the start of the feature, it appeared that Ashworth had a car capable of winning.  Ashworth’s chances were helped when an early race crash took out Rod Henning, Drew Pollack and Greg Nicholas.  When the green flag flew again, Ryan Broughton set the pace but Beau Stewart and Ashworth were chasing him down.  Another driver on the move was Seth Wilkerson.  He was having one of the best runs he’s had in a mini-sprint.  Ashworth was able to work his way around Stewart and found a way around Broughton on lap 8.  From there is was smooth sailing, as he led the final 12 laps to pick up his first win at Lawrenceburg.  Broughton was second, followed by Wilkerson, Stewart, and Scott Fasse.  Heat race winners were Scott Bradley, Boyd Wolff, Rod Henning, and Drew Pollack.  Dustin Hueston won the B-main.  The season championship would also be decided on this night, and that would go to Beau Stewart.  Stewart clinched the championship by finishing third in his heat.  This is Stewarts first AMSA championship.
